Reunion 2010

Reunion 2010 is now history but what a wonderful experience we all had.  Laura Sanders, Susan Woods and Natalie Magee were the directors. They did a great job.  I talked with them later and they said "they had Kep People" that made the reunion run smoothly. THANKS TO ALL WHO OFFERED THEIR TIME AND EXPERIENCE TO MAKE THIS REUNION UNFORGETABLE.

The camp grounds are looking sooooo good! Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Margaret and Carl Edgerton, along with volunteer help coming up for "Work Days".  I for one have noticed the changes and so appreciate their time and effort.  WAY TO GO!!!

Karin Peter, Seventy appointed to our Apostle Rick Maupin, was our guest minister. What a dynamic person she is.  I can only speak for me but her sermons were so inspiring and I feel we all could relate to her stories, no matter how young or old we are. She touched me with her humbleness and willingness to talk with anyone that wanted to talk with her.  I will be forever touched by her ministry.

"Zappa" showed up a few times with his words of wisdom.  Ron received some really nice comments on Zappa and hopefully, he will be back at camp with us again next year.

The Talent Show was a Hoot!  Lots of great talent and the MC's (Megan and Whitney) were hilarious.  The Seminole Gang did not disappoint either.  I don't think any of us will get the image of Margaret out of our minds any time soon.  Izak stood captivated by her dancing or was he in shock at to what he was seeing?  He sure did clap a lot after she was finished!

I had the opportunity to do the "Prayer for Peace" every morning in the sanctuary.  It was a wonderful experience for all who attended.  I had one person tell me that she never knew she could go online and print the whole worship service and was going to do that for her congregation to share on Sunday Morning.  It was a great way to start our day.  Hopefully, next year we will have a few more in attendence.

I could go on and on about the wonderfullness of Reunion, but I guess if you would like to know more, you will just have to make plans on coming next year and experiencing it for yourself.  You will not be disappointed.

Your in Christ,

Karen Wasson

Reunio

From Myrna Kerlin

Lillard and I are having a nice fall season. We're staying well, for the most part, and keeping busy on one project or another around here.
Like most of you we had a lovely Thanksgiving and feel so blessed in many ways.....but we also have had two wonderful testimonies, recently, of God's goodness and mercy that I'd like to share with you.....
As many of you know, our son Kevin has been on crutches since he broke his knee in August, but he is healing very well. We hope to get the "okay" from the doctor soon for him to graduate to a walker or a cane. God has really blessed us though, and has been watching over Kevin....
He had a bad accident on the 19th of November out here on our country road....He hit a very rough spot in the road, fish-tailed, lost control and rolled his truck! Four times! But he had his seat belt on tightly and just held on to the steering wheel! The truck landed on its wheels and although it was "totaled" he was able to coax it on home. He only had a bruised shoulder and was a little stiff for a few days....We are so thankful for God's watch care and praise His holy name! The insurance company paid Kevin full value for the truck too and hauled the old one off, so even in these little details God has been faithful!
Our other son, Dwayne Kerlin, who lives in Texas, had a terrible shooting accident on November 7th. He was loading a 45 caliber pistol with hollow point bullets and accidentally shot himself in the leg! The bullet went in the top of his left thigh, traveled down the leg and lodged in the upper portion of his left calf....and the MIRACLE is that it didn't even hit a bone.... or an artery .... or shatter his knee.... God is so good!
Dwayne is a very responsible person who collects guns and is very knowledgeable about them. He is always very careful, but accidents do happen! He is recovering nicely but he will have to have physical therapy and wear a splint/boot thing for several more months, as he did suffer some nerve damage and they have to keep his Achilles tendon extended... But when you think of what the outcome MIGHT have been.....We are so thankful for God's blessings!
We thank all of you who knew and have been praying for Kevin and Dwayne. We know that our Heavenly Father hears our prayers and is always ready to "carry us" in the difficult times in our lives.

Christmas in Chicago 2009

School let out on Friday and we took off Saturday morning, headed toward Chicago to see Cora, Jake and Brie Ann for Christmas. Parker, Vaughn and I made the 12 hour drive together in a Jeep that was packed full. And I mean full. We were delivering Cora's Christmas...a vintage style 3-piece play kitchen Vaughn built just for her. And we were also loaded down with the gifts from the family. We listened to every Christmas CD we had, several times, and then we were there. We arrived around 6:30 p.m.
While in Chicago, we attended church with the kids, made a trip to IKEA (about 30 minutes away) for some more Christmas, shopped, visited the art institute, and ate some really good food. We had yummy Chicago style pizza, lasagna, hamburgers, donuts, Chinese take out (and some delicious food at home too). Cora and I made Christmas sugar cookies one day. She really loved decorating them with the sprinkles, although she held the shaker more like a rubber stamp and pressed the bottle into the icing, which caused a clogging problem. Sure was fun though.
Parker and I went to a Broadway in Chicago musical, "In the Heights". My first Broadway show! It was so fun! (I packed BrieAnn's pink bottle of MACE in my pocket for the trip home on the bus...good news, didn't have to use it.)
Chicago Cora has grown! She is taller and her eyes are wiser. Her hair is longer, although still very, very fine and fly-away, just like Gram likes it. She is saying LOTS of words, sometimes 2-3 in a sentence (sometimes more but I don't always know how to decipher them). I enjoyed hearing her say, "Happy Cora". She can name a bunch of her letters and numbers. She loves, loves, loves the kitchen and all the food, pots and pans, etc. that go with it.
We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new baby in June. Lots more trips to Chicago will be in the works for Gram, Offey and Uncle Parker.

 Christmas with the Edgertons

This was a bit of a strange Christmas since the weather caused us to be flexible with our plans. We really had a good time even though some things did not work out as planned.

Megan and her boyfriend, Brian Loving, arrived from Graceland on the 17th. We got to enjoy them until the 22nd, when Brian left to go back to Kansas City to spend Christmas with his family. Megan stayed with us and Whitney and Ryan Sheehy arrived on the 22nd.

We were all very excited to celebrate Megan's birthday with the family on the 20th and to celebrate Whitney and Ryan's engagement! They are planning to be married on July 3 at Saints Grove so save that day!

We had the whole family except our Colorado loved ones at our house on the 23rd. We especially enjoyed Kinslee loving Christmas this year and our precious little Maebree for her first Christmas. We had to stay in for Christmas Eve and Mom, Dad,and Nancy didn't get to come as we had planned. Christmas Day we ventured out to Seminole to Mom and Dad's and a great dinner. We also got to visit with Darla and Roy.

Megan, Whitney, and Ryan left on the 30th to go back to Independence and now our house is empty and quiet again. We have much to be thankful for and the days just went by so quickly. Happy New Year to everyone!

On December 12th the Church Women United had their 1st Annual Christmas Party at the church.  Instead of having a gift exchange, the ladies were asked to bring wrapped gifts marked with man - woman - girl/w age or boy/w age.  We sang our favorite Christmas Carol, shared snacks and stories of Christmas Past.  About 10 women were involved in this program.  We collected 4 large boxes of gifts that went to the Family Resource Center to be donated to those in need.  What a wonderful job the women did.  Thank you all sooooo much for your kindness.  We will have our 2nd Annual Christmas Party in 2010.
